Lingsoft’s spring 2025 season was full of events and activities! We participated in events in the health care, public administration, defence and research sectors – the opportunities of AI continue to be a hot topic in all these areas. As spring turned into summer, we also had time to relax a bit and celebrate with our language partners and our own group.

Language technology to support health care in Sweden and Finland

Our year of events began in January at the E-Health exhibition in Stockholm, where we talked about the role of AI in supporting nursing work. Our presentation showed how AI-based language technology solutions can free up time for expertise and encounters between people.

In May, we participated in the Vitalis exhibition in Gothenburg, which is the largest digitalisation and health technology forum in the Nordic countries. Speech recognition and AI attracted a lot of interest, and we were able to discuss how language solutions can make health care more accessible and safer. We emphasised that language barriers should never block access to high-quality care – the right tools make communication smooth and inspire trust.

The Social and Health Care IT Days in Jyväskylä also brought professionals in that sector together to discuss developments in the Finnish health and social services field. Lingsoft was represented by Janica Asplund and Elina Manner, who had rewarding discussions concerning cooperation and new initiatives with our partner Diktamen.

Future language technology to support public administration and defence

In January, we attended the SecD-Day event, which presented a wide range of Finnish and international defence and security technology expertise. The EU-funded NEMO project was officially launched early in the year, and Lingsoft has responsibility for developing speech recognition and translation modules for defence technology use.

In early May, we once again took part in the Valtio Expo in Helsinki, where we were able to meet with a wide range of central government actors. We discussed the organisations’ language management solutions and presented our AI-based services. We were also able to have a chat with many familiar customers.

Industry and research need each other in language technology

In March, we participated in the NoDaLiDa & Baltic-HLT 2025 conference, which brought researchers and actors in the field together to discuss language technology development, especially in the Nordic and Baltic languages. We stressed the importance of making research results available in real applications – language technology is needed for all languages, not just the most widely spoken ones.

A toast to spring and cooperation

We organised Lingsoft’s Spring Event in late May, which gave us the chance to meet with our translator and language expert partners. Among other things, there was lively discussion about AI as a tool in language work. Anni-Leena Alanen also provided information about the Ellibs e-bookstore, which is our subsidiary. Lingsoft service coordinators, who work closely with our partners, also attended the event.

In early June, our own group gathered at the lovely Villa Promenade in Ruissalo to celebrate the summer and have some fun together. AI also played a role in this event in the form of a quiz. We enjoyed the beautiful nature of Ruissalo, some delicious food and great company!
