The Europe Forum will be organised in Turku for the sixth time, and Lingsoft has been involved in the event production this year as well. Lingsoft delivers accessibility services to the organisers and programme producers of the forum, which means providing subtitles for all the video recordings of the event. This makes the discussions accessible on the different event channels, also those available afterwards.
The number one scene of the EU debate invites the public to actively participate in discussions on changing Europe, both in person and virtually. The purpose of the forum is to bring politics and social dialogue closer to citizens, and the best way to do this is by ensuring that everyone can participate. Lingsoft, therefore, plays an important role delivering messages and in the customer experience of the event.
“It is important for us to be a part of creating accessible civil debate and making democratic participation available to everyone in this way. For Lingsoft, the EU is a well-known partner. We have been responsible for Finnish and Swedish translations of most EU institutions almost throughout Finland’s EU membership”, says Juhani Reiman, CEO of Lingsoft.
Lingsoft has been a translation partner of the European Parliament and the European Commission for almost 20 years. Lingsoft delivers Finnish and Swedish translations for all 24 official EU languages and maintains a collection of summaries of EU legislation for the Publications Office of the European Union. Thanks to the translations, documents from different EU bodies are available to all EU citizens in their native language. The summaries, on the other hand, decode European legislation and decision-making in an accessible and concise format. High-quality translations strengthen the multilingualism of the European Union and ensure that citizens are informed of its activities.
In addition, Lingsoft has published its own Nordic language technology tools on the European Language Grid (ELG), which provides businesses and communities with a comprehensive range of language technologies in all European languages. Lingsoft’s language technologies contribute to the strategy of the European Language Equality project (ELE) which aims to preserve the vitality of small local and minority languages in the digital age.
